Starting a new thread, to save confusion, continued from here

The climate control on my black JDM ST205 blows lovely & cold for a few minutes, then just blows ambient air......

@asdrewq - I haven't checked when turning the whole car off & on again, but certainly turning off the aircon & back on again doesn't help

@Nibbles - Yes, the new pump was fitted by a trusted aircon specialists, with all the proper A/C safety gear..... interesting comment about the fans, though - I'll take a look at that

Cheers

Did a bit more investigation tonight - ran the car, with the A/C on "full cold" and blowing at max. This time it didn't even chill the air for a few minutes, it just blew ambient from the start.

Now, am I correct in thinking that in this situation, the condenser fan would be blowing continuously while the AC was switched on? When I looked it wasn't moving - it was free to spin, but showed no interest in moving, even with a flick of encouragement. I left the engine running at idle for a while to get it up to full temperature, but still no sign of life from either of the fans

Time to start checking fuses & relays I reckon...... might run a supply direct to the fan, just to confirm it does still run

Cheers

I'll check the behaviour on mine on Thursday when I'm next in the office.

The things I know that inhibit aircon:
Turning the fan off (as in heater fan).
Lack of aircon fluid (comes from a pressure sensor).

I would expect some sort of interlock on over-temperature, whether it be temperature, pressure or a fan interlock. Not investigated this though.

I seem to remember that if it was below 8c it won't work I wonder if the temp sensor is faulty and telling it its to cold to run
